Program Description:

CIEE Global Sustainability and Environment Program in Shanghai, China
There’s nothing like living in the world’s largest city to inspire introspection into how humans adversely impact our world. On CIEE’s Global Sustainability and Environment program, you’ll develop ideas for minimizing this impact. At cutting-edge Chinese labs, research centers, and universities, you’ll gain technical and project-planning skills and tackle ever-present urban challenges to sustainable life. While most of work will be done in English, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to soak up Chinese culture – from language classes to living with a Chinese family.

Study abroad in Shanghai and you’ll:
  • Study and work in top Chinese labs and research institutions
  • Go on a servicework retreat to help an impoverished village in rural China
  • Explore Beijing, Nanjing, or another great city in China
  • Experience an acrobatics show, a river cruise, and meals with Chinese roommates and families
  • Try your hand at Chinese cooking, calligraphy, martial arts, music or mahjong
