CIEE Summer Tropical Marine Ecology & Conservation Program in Bonaire
“Bon bini!” is how locals say “Welcome!” on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, home to one of the earth’s most diverse and pristine marine habitats. On our Summer Tropical Marine Ecology and Conservation program, you might choose to take part in specialized dive training and field research methods that result in certification with the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS). Or you could spend the summer exploring theoretical concepts in coral reef ecology and conservation through interactive lectures and field trips to coral reef ecosystems. Or maybe do both!
Study abroad in Kralendijk and you will:
Develop and use scuba, photography, and videography skills to document and understand the ecology of coral reefs and associated ecosystems
Focus on theoretical concepts in coral reef ecology and conservation through interactive lectures and field trips
Learn to identify reef fish, corals, and other organisms and their behavioral interactions
An overnight trip is planned for the neighboring island of Curacao to see important cultural sites on the island
Please check the CIEE website for final program dates, and speak with your CIEE Study Abroad Advisor prior to booking airfare.
